I have decided I no longer can support Ron Paul after doing much research into him. I still support him on many non economic things but his economic beliefs are something that I just can't swallow. He would take us back pre-New Deal, hell he would even take us back before their was an income tax in 1913. I refuse to support someone who is so delusional he thinks FDR made a Depression into the Great Depression and blames him for prolonging it. I refuse to support a man who claims Social Security and Medicare should never have been and are unconstitutional. I refuse to support a man who claims the income tax should have never been levied. I refuse to support a man who would withhold foreign aide which makes up less then 1% of the budget from suffering men, women, and children around the world. I refuse to support a man who would eliminate The Department of Education, The Department of Energy, and The Department of Housing and Urban Development, The Department of the Interior, and The Department of Commerce all of which help the people greatly even more so low income ones. I refuse to support a man who says the New Deal and Great Society was Unconstitutional. After careful research and scrutiny it is clear in spite of rhetoric Ron Paul stands with the 1% and could care less about the poor in this nation. I can not support Ron Paul without parting from my whole view on economics and economic justice and that is something I just will not part with. I am calling instead for Bernie Sanders to run in 2012 as an Independent candidate with Dennis Kucinich as his running mate. We need a real Progressive in the White House especially in times where the Tea Party is threating to roll back 100 years of Progress with a swoop of the pen. Ron Paul would indeed bring us forward on non economic issues but on economics he would bring us very far back so he has become an unacceptable choice to me. I am sorry for friends I may loose over this decision to stop supporting him but I rather be hated for being true to myself then lie just to please some. I really did support Ron Paul with the false belief he would be powerless on his economic beliefs because of the makeup of congress and the public but I have decided even if he succeeds only a little on his economic agenda that would be hazardous. Who knows the Tea Party could have enough of a voice in the next congress with a GOP President in there they could really roll back decades of progress. I for one refuse to let the sacrifices of people who fought long hard battles like FDR, JFK, RFK, and MLK along with millions of people the streets be in vain. Bernie Sanders for President 2012!
