How much longer is The United States, The United Nations, and NATO going to sit on their hands when this devil Bashar al-Assad continues to systematically and ruthlessly murder and and torture the good people of Syria. Russia, China, and The Arab League have got to get real, men like Bashar al-Assad don't change because you ask them nicely. Bashar is the worst tyrant of the modern era and has been responsible for more killings then any single leader in modern history. Americans often talk of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad but he is much less ruthless then Bashar al-Assad when it comes to killing and torturing people. Assad has been responsible for well over 5,000 Syrians deaths some estimates much higher and among these are many women and children. There has been tortures and atrocities that would shake you to the very core to know humanity is capable of such horror, and a number of the victims have been children. Bashar is not gunning down terrorist and armed gangs but rather innocent civilians of Syria. He is sending in his armed thugs like a thief and the night in the middle of the night to capture, torture, and kill those opposed to his regime. With mothers tearfully pleading for their sons and daughters as they are whisked away to be jailed, tortured, and executed. It is mostly the young people of Syria who are standing up to Bashar and so they are the focus of his horror. Personal effects and sometimes body parts of victims are sometimes sent back to their families to let them know very clearly what happens to those who dare defy Assad. All the horrors mankind is capable of inflicting on other mankind have been reported genocide, murder, rape, and torture of the most vicious kind. Things so terrible to hear them described would sicken you. These poor people of Syria the men, women, and children enduring these horrific acts on a daily basis and to think we ignore their pleads for help. How can we say we stand up for human rights if we fail to act to prevent the worst of human rights abuses, genocide.
We can not afford to sit idly by not even a day longer, and we must act now. The time of waiting for an insane man to suddenly become sane is over, the time for military intervention is now. Bashar al-Assad needs to be taken out of power either through capturing him or killing him. Everyone who knows me knows I am not a man who likes war and almost always sides for a peaceful way to solve world disputes but in this case armed conflict is the only way to prevent further torture and bloodshed. I see what were doing now as doing as the Nazi appeasers did in the 1930's to put their own interest ahead of millions of suffering people. No one wants a war, me included, but at this stage in the game war is inevitable and will come sooner or later. Sooner if we act now and prevent further bloodshed and torture of Syrian citizens or later after many more thousands have been tortured and killed and an all out civil war breaks out likely crossing the border from Syria to other nations. This is only to prevent further torture and bloodshed of civilians not to do as in Iraq and Afghanistan and Nation build. Every day we fail to act is tens or hundreds more tortured and killed. We need to do this carefully to prevent further deaths of civilians and in a way that will not embolden Assad to become even more ruthless but we need to act.
Some will say leave it to the Syrians; I say that is like saying we should have left the Nazis to the Europeans. That is like saying we should have let the Nazi genocide of the Jews and other oppressed minorities continue and did nothing. Those who say we need to try diplomacy which has proven time and time again not to work with Assad is like saying Adolph Hitler could be reasoned with. You can not reason with violent madness, be understanding of vicious acts, and make peace with those destined for carnage. Letting Bashar al-Assad stay as the leader of Syria for one more day is a crime against humanity in itself. Bashar must be taken from power by force as he will not surrender. I do not like the fact that any further bloodshed likely will be necessary but it is only to prevent much worse bloodshed from occurring. It is better that a few die then an entire nation to be in the cross-hairs of a butcher of man. Russia and the Arab League are being played like a fiddle by the Assad regime to make them think he is open to peace. He is open to no such a thing, the time for grace is over, the time for him and his regime to answer for their crimes is now. You can't slaughter thousands and expect to die a dignified death. I would prefer Assad and his regime are captured, tried, and jailed for the remainders of their life as I am against vengeance but I know that dying a terrible death is the more likely outcome for men such as these. I would prefer Assad be tried on a world stage as the Nazis in Nuremberg to answer for their crimes against humanity but I know being killed before such a trial is the more likely outcome. No matter how it ends for Bashar al-Assad he needs for the sake of humanity to be removed from power. The world does not have a moment to loose!
